A monumental building
On behalf of (IEF/Bouwfonds IM), the property of the former V&D at Kalverstraat 203 in Amsterdam has been redeveloped. In its former state, the building consisted of two interconnected structures belonging to V&D and La Place, which are now considered as a unified entity. This perception is shared by the municipality, which regards this property as a monumental structure. Throughout the redevelopment planning process, significant emphasis has been placed on preserving the original design of the building. By dismantling the connection between the two structures, the alley will be restored to its original state, resulting in the creation of two separate buildings. Additionally, the facades will be restored to their original design, including the installation of a glass canopy on the Rokin side.
Function mixing
La Place remains situated at the location earmarked for redevelopment. Within the former V&D section, retail, office, and hospitality spaces have been established across various floors. The project encompassed a commission spanning over 7,000 square meters, with renovation works conducted in multiple phases.
The rol of RYSE
RYSE was responsible for project management during the preparation and execution of the redevelopment. Tasks included elaborating the Preliminary Design into construction-ready drawings and formulating the procurement specification. Additionally, RYSE supervised the tendering process for selecting a contractor, provided construction supervision before and during construction, and oversaw the handover process.
